MY NAME IS AMANDA SUZAN WELCH.
I got a new Canon 2000D recently. After my Canon Rebel was stolen in 2023 my family surprised me with a replacement camera.
I had a Canon Rebel T7 that my mom gave me for Christmas in 2020.
I enjoy painting and have some digital art as well.
I was born 1987.
In 2003, my mother and step-father took me to see a showing of Ansel Adam' work. Later, they signed me up with the Gibbs Art Museum Darkroom Photography Advanced course. I spent a summer looking through enlargers in a wonderfully laid out work space. I learned to develop rolls of film manually with a can opener and and to use developer chemicals in a pitch black environment.
I learned and gained super appreciation for every opportunity to be there.
One year later, I enrolled at Trident Technical College in North Charleston, SC where I attended a Photography 101 course. This class reinforced my experience as a young photographer by further educating my adolescent mind on the subject. I spent more time in the dark room than any other class. and even skipped math class to be there.
I also have three months textbook learned with Adobe InDesign in a classroom setting at TTC.
I worked at Hollywood Video for a year.
Skipped SCAD to venture west to Oregon.
I worked at Blockbuster for a year.
At the age of 22 I started a magazine called "VAZ!NE magazine". It was a four-issue run of a collaborative art "eye candi" project which included creative-writing submissions, photography, homemade puzzles, musician interviews, humor and original art from various contributors.
I am eternally grateful to be granted the chance to continue working on "catching the light", even if it's just trippy photography. Enjoy!
In 2023 my home was broken into and my camera was stolen along with it's bag, a Gretsch hollow bodied electric, the road runner case it was in, my tattoo ink, stripper pole, and other items.
